Standard mortise fitting — the lock body seats in a pocket cut into the door edge and the plates fix through the door face. Measure the backset first if you are replacing an existing lock. This plate is narrower than average and covers less of the door face, so old screw holes from a previous handle may remain visible after fitting; check that before you order. Care & Maintenance

Dry soft cloth along the brush grain, following the direction of the engraved line rather than across it. A dry cotton bud clears dust from the groove. Never use metal polish on a brushed gold finish — it lifts the grain from the raised areas and leaves bright streaks running against the brush direction, which is far more visible than any dust you were removing.
